Abstracts:

Given the growing criticality of information security, especially in the area of personal data protection over the internet, old and tried tools such as passwords no longer meet the challenge and deemed reliable.  With the explosive growth of E-commerce, security experts are searching for more reliable means for safe-guarding data security. One of the most successful findings dealt with the application of Biometrics. The present articles offers a brief overview of biometrics, its roots, its applications, strengths as well as weaknesses. It also offers the advantages of a biometric ID Card and how it could add more reliability and security to such events as electronic election.
